EFF: Indian Intermediary Regulations pose a great threat to people’s freedom of expression online.
According to a recent article by The Electronic Frontiers Foundation, the policymakers are taking the easy way out by punishing the users for alleged allegedly obscene, infringing, defamatory, or otherwise illegal material online and collect personal information.
We have already witnessed elite political figures and parties using their power on Google to force them to pull down communities and also make arrests under the grounds of defamation like Orkut community defaming Shiv Sena and Sonia Gandhi. A priviledge which is almost out of reach for a common man who cannot think of exercising legally due to the judicial corruption and bureaucratic redtape.
